1. Acceptance Of Terms
By accessing or using The Race Scoop™ website (theracescoop.com and related pages, "the Site"), submitting content, or otherwise participating in our community, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
2. Ownership & Intellectual Property
The Race Scoop™ name, logo, branding, and original content, including our race guides, articles, graphics, and site design, are owned by The Race Scoop or used under license. You may not copy, republish, or commercially reuse our original content or branding without our written permission.
This does not apply to content you submit yourself (see Section 4), to information that is generally publicly available (like a race's official date), or to third-party trademarks, logos, and product names referenced on the Site, which remain the property of their respective owners.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Submit false, fraudulent, or misleading content, including fake reviews (see Section 5).
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or its forms.
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-collect content or user data from the Site without our written permission.
- Impersonate another person, business, or The Race Scoop itself.
- Post or submit content that violates our Community Guidelines.
4. User Submissions
When you submit content to The Race Scoop, including Comeback Stories, reviews, ratings, run club or trainer listings, business recommendations, photos, videos, or any other material, you confirm that:
- You have the right to submit the material, and you are not submitting someone else's copyrighted work without their permission.
- Where the material includes another identifiable person, for example a photo or video of someone other than yourself, you have that person's permission to submit it.
- The information you're providing is accurate and reflects your own genuine experience, where applicable.
By submitting content, you grant The Race Scoop a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable license to use, reproduce, edit, format, adapt, publish, distribute, and promote that content, in whole or in part, on the Site and across our social media channels and marketing, including your name, submitted photos or videos, username or handle, and quotes where applicable. You retain ownership of your own content; this license lets us use what you've given us permission to use.
We may moderate, edit for length or clarity, reject, or remove any submission, at our discretion, including for violating our Community Guidelines. See Section 5 for reviews and ratings specifically.
5. Reviews & Ratings
The Race Scoop's rating system exists to give athletes an honest, community-built picture of races, hotels, trainers, and businesses. To keep it trustworthy:
- Reviews must reflect your own honest experience or opinion. Don't submit a review for a race, hotel, trainer, or business you didn't actually experience.
- No fake reviews, and no submitting a review of your own business, or a business you're affiliated with, pretending to be an independent customer.
- No manipulating ratings, including coordinating with others to submit duplicate, inflated, or deflated reviews.
- If you received compensation, a free product or service, a discount, or another material benefit connected to writing a review, disclose that in the review itself.
- Every submitted rating is calculated into the displayed average alongside every other approved rating for that race, hotel, trainer, or business (see our Disclosure for how the displayed average is built). We do not manually set or override a displayed average to favor or disadvantage any business.
- A future race or event that hasn't happened yet does not display an earned user rating. A rating only appears once real athletes have actually experienced the race.
- We moderate reviews before they publish. Moderation looks for violations, fake content, harassment, hate speech, discrimination, threats, spam, privacy violations, or fraudulent claims, not for negative opinions. A negative review will not be removed simply because it's negative or unflattering to a business. See our Community Guidelines for the full list of what gets flagged.
The Race Scoop reserves the right to reject, remove, or decline to publish any review that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, and to suspend a user's ability to submit reviews for repeated violations.
6. Community Behavior
Everyone participating in The Race Scoop community, through reviews, comments, submissions, or any other interactive feature, is expected to follow our Community Guidelines. Honest criticism, disagreement, and negative experiences are welcome. Hate speech, discrimination, harassment, threats, and abuse are not, and will be moderated per those Guidelines.
7. Third-Party Links
The Site contains links to race organizers, hotels, gear brands, training facilities, and other third-party websites we don't own or control. We're not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any linked site. Visiting a third-party link is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms.
8. Disclaimers
The Site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. See our full Disclosure for the specifics on race/event information, health and training content, third-party businesses, community-submitted content, and reviews.
9. Limitation Of Liability

Off-the-shelf limitation-of-liability language varies significantly by state and by the nature of the business, this is exactly the kind of clause we don't want to invent for you.
10. Indemnification

The specific scope and enforceability of an indemnification clause against individual (non-business) users varies by state, have your attorney confirm the right language here.
11. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
[Attorney Review Needed] The Race Scoop™ is organized as a Wyoming LLC, but that alone does not determine which state's law governs a dispute over this website, or where the company may need to register or account for tax/nexus obligations based on where it actually operates. Do not assume or state that Wyoming law exclusively controls every website claim. Confirm the appropriate governing-law and dispute-resolution clause (including whether to require arbitration) with an attorney or CPA who can account for where the business is actually operating from and doing business.
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. An unenforceable provision will be interpreted to reflect the original intent as closely as legally possible.
13. Changes To These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Site, our features, and our partnerships evolve. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
